Jose was born on September 21, 1952 in Mexico to Pedro Alvarez-Flores and Jovita Ramirez. Jose was a proud yet humble and kind man. He was raised farming and ranching and always felt this was his true calling in life. He would later return to agri-business in Mexico once he entered into retirement. This was his “paraiso”, he would say and it translates to the word paradise in English. He appreciated the unspoken language he shared with nature.
Jose never shied away from a challenge during his lifetime. He worked in meat packing, meat processing, in the oil fields and everything in between. Jose was bound and determined to raise his children to be successful in whatever field he/she chose. In his free time, he enjoyed combat sports like boxing. Once his sons got into wrestling, he was introduced to MMA sports and enjoyed watching a good match. He would enjoy a family gathering around a cookout, to which he often found joy in sharing a story, a good joke or a good old fashioned Ranchera. Once his kids were grown and off on their own he found great pleasure in traveling both here and abroad.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Jovita, brothers Elias, Francisco, and Refugio, and sister Maria. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters Jovita Josefina Luquin, Guadalupe Veronica Alvarez-Beltran, Nancy Delia Alvarez-Galvan and husband Javier, and Ana Bella Ramirez-Alvarez; sons Refugio Alvarez and spouse Griselda, Juan Alvarez, Cesar Alvarez, Jose Alvarez-Ramirez and wife Kenia. Jose also leaves behind his brothers Sotero, Jose Maria, sister Maria DeJesus Bedoy, seven grandchildren, and many other beloved family and dear friends.
To honor Jose’s memory, the family suggests a memorial donation be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee in lieu of flowers.
