Jose "Joe" Castillo Jr.

Jose “Joe” D. Castillo, 75, of Amarillo died on July 13, 2015. There will be a rosary service at 6:00 p.m. today at Schooler Funeral Home, Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wed July 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home; 4100 S. Georgia St.
Joe was born on September 8, 1939 in Amarillo to Joe Castillo, Sr. and Petra Diaz Castillo. He married Guadalupe Estrada in 1974 in New Mexico. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp. for three years. Joe retired after 35 years from ASARCO. He had a passion for Indian Pow Wows and Indian culture.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jimmy Castillo and Richard Castillo.
Survivors include his wife Guadalupe; daughter Elmira Guerra of Amarillo; three sons, Edward Guerra, and Joseph Guzman both of Amarillo and Greg Guzman of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Delores Garcia of Amarillo, Connie Leijia of Dallas, and Gloria Hernandez of Houston; three brothers, Rudy Castillo, Bobby Castillo and David Castillo all of Amarillo and three grandchildren, Bailey Guzman, Braxton Guzman and Isaiah Guzman.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be to Capuchin Poor Clare Monastery; c/o Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament; 4201 N.E. 18th Ave.; Amarillo, TX. 79107.
