Mr. Manno was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Clifton, N.J., and graduated from Clifton High School. He then attended Syracuse University, graduating in 1949. After graduation, he taught English literature for several years. He then had a calling and entered St. Bonaventure Seminary for five years. After seminary, he went to work for St. Anthony's Guild in Patterson, N.J, where he met and married his first wife, Angelina, who preceded him in death in 1993.
He went to work for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore as a computer analyst and retired in 1992 after 32 years of service. He then met Theresa Vigil, and they married on April 13, 1996, in Canadian and moved to Amarillo that same year. He was deputized by the archbishop of Baltimore as a special minister for the distribution of Holy Communion and then recommissioned in Amarillo at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he was a member. He was actively involved in RCIA team at St. Joseph's and sponsor to many. He belonged to St. Luke's ministry and was a lector at the church. He was commissioned in Amarillo by Bishop John W. Yanta to serve as a lay chaplain for BSA Hospice and hospital. He was involved in prison ministries, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order Padre Pio Fraternity and a member of the Amarillo Italian Club.
He also was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, David Kirby and Scott Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; three daughters, Anita Sumner of Spearman, Frances Garcia of Amarillo and Cathy Campbell of Canadian; a brother, Anthony Manno of Wayne, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
