Joseph J. Robak, age 65, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2012, in St. Martin Catholic Church, 1507 N. Adams, with Msgr. Rex Nicholl as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Joseph was born August 3, 1947, to Chester and Stephine Robak in Buffalo, New York. In 1965, he graduated from St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, NY. He also attended St. Bernard College in Cullman, Alabama and received a Masters Degree in Math Education from Canisus Jesuit College. Joseph married the light of his life, Celine Buczek on August 16, 1974.
The education field became Joseph’s career, and he was a teacher in Texas for 38 years. He was a beloved substitute teacher with Amarillo Independent School District, Bushland Independent School District, Canyon Independent School District, Amarillo College, and the prison in Amarillo.
Joseph traveled extensively and had visited 64 countries. He was an avid football and baseball fan and particularly enjoyed college football. Conversation came naturally to Joseph, and he liked to talk about “conspiracy” theories. He loved children, animals, and nature. He was a devout Catholic and very spiritual person.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and a brother, John Robak.
Survivors include his wife, Celine, and many wonderful friends.
