Joyce Jean Connery, 92, of Amarillo passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at Schooler Funeral Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, following a private interment at Llano Cemetery. The Rev. Marty Hamrick will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
She was born on February 13, 1919, to Leland and Katy Forney in Kingman. KS, and attended schools there. During the war, she worked as secretary to the superintendent of schools and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Joyce married Wayne Connery in San Antonio in 1943. Following his discharge from the Army in 1945, they moved to Amarillo.
She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member and past president of the Susanna Wesley Class and earlier a member of the Sanctuary Choir. Joyce served as president of Wolflin P.T.A. and belonged to the FM Chapter of P.E.O. philanthropic sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Connery in 1994. She is survived by son Scott Connery and wife, Linda, of Lubbock; daughter, Carol Murdock of Kerrville; and grandson William W. Connery II of Round Rock.
