Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 6th, at Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Cooper, will officiate. Burial will be held at Dreamland Cemetery, Canyon, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.JoZach Byrd died on March 3, 2010, in Amarillo, TX. He was born November 17, 1923 in Oklahoma City, OK. His parents were Roy N. and Camilla Byrd. When JoZach was a small child they moved to Amarillo, and he started first grade at Wolfin School. Then the family moved south of Canyon, where the family farmed and ranched. He finished school at Canyon High School in 1941. In 1942 he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Anderson. They have had 67 years of a wonderful, blessed life. God also blessed them with a son, Ben and a daughter Dettie.In 1954 he was ordained as a Deacon in First Baptist Church, Canyon. He belonged to the Kiwanas Club and Chamber of Commerce. He moved his family to Ruidoso, NM in 1983, and lived there until 2005. While in Ruidoso he was active in the Kiwanas Club, the Food Bank of Ruidoso and the First Baptist Church. When JoZach and Dorothy retired the family then moved back to Amarillo. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Walton Byrd.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; and his children, Ben Byrd and wife, Sally and daughter, Dettie; his brother, Roy N. Byrd and wife Katy; and also many nieces and nephews.Many thanks go out to “The Arbors” staff and BSA Hospice who took such good care of him. The family will receive visitors at Schooler Funeral home on Friday, March 5th, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Arbors Activity Department, 1910 Medi Park Dr., Amarillo, TX or a favorite charity.
