Juan Guadalupe Ortiz

Juan Guadalupe Ortiz, 65, of Amarillo passed peacefully on September 2, 2023.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home’s Brentwood Chapel on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Father Haider Quintero of St. Laurance Catholic Church presiding.

Juan was born to Fidelio and Irene (Guerrero) Ortiz in Del Rio, Texas on April 3, 1958. In 1986, he married his beloved Anita. They took on life’s finest journey as husband and wife until Anita’s untimely passing.

Juan loved the open road. He spent much of his life travelling from town to town taking in all of the sites and enjoying what each place he stopped had to offer. When not on the road, Juan found great joy in spending time with his family. He would get the grill going, and would cook amazing meals for them all while enjoying a cold Natural Light.

Juan was a genuinely kind hearted person. He was humbled in all he had, and never took for granted the life he was blessed to live. He loved to help others in need, no matter their situation. If it was raining and he had an umbrella, he would give it to someone without one. He was the epitome of “Love thy neighbor”.

Juan is preceded in death by his wife Anita and his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter Esmeralda Ortiz-Uribe and husband Fernando of Arizona, his son Abraham Rosas of Amarillo, sisters Linda Vallejo and JoAnne Rodriguez, brothers Raul Valadez and Ricardo Valdez Jr.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
