Juanita Dee Brown

Our dear mother and Granny, gained her wings on Saturday September 21, 2019 and now rests in heaven with Jesus. She is remembering all of the things she had forgotten here on earth

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Groom. Burial will follow in Groom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Juanita Dee Williams Brown was born to John Delbert “JD” and Mamie Jackson Williams November 17, 1928 in Shamrock TX. Juanita moved to the farm north of Groom at nine months of age. Where she made her home for the next 67 years before moving to town. She graduated Salutatorian of the Groom High class of 1945, at the age of 16. After graduation, she attended West Texas State University, majoring in Home Economics. During her time at Groom High, she met the love of her life Fred Brown. She didn’t think she could spend a full semester away from home, family, and her love to finish her degree, therefore she returned home, to plan a wedding and her dream of a family.

Juanita and Fred were married April 24, 1948. They soon made their home back at the farm; raising their family, many crops, and black angus cattle. She made a career of always helping people and never meeting a stranger. She was the receptionist for Dr. Witt and many others at the Groom Clinic for 25 years. After the clinic closed, she resumed a career at the school as a teacher, librarian, and doing many duties for others for another 25 years. She became Mrs. Brown and Granny to generations of students.

She could turn anything in to a work of art whether it be fixing a meal or sewing a hem. She was a member of First Baptist church, teaching Sunday school for years and fullfilling many lives. She was a member of the Gabettes, WMU, and Red Hat Society. Later in life, her afternoons were filled with coffee and cookies with her DQ group.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred; and her daughter-in-law, Susan (Lonny).

Those left to cherish her memories are 3 sons and 2 daughters and their families, Larry and Karen Brown, Lonny and Ravina Brown, Lynita Brown, Tracy Brown, and Brad and Lezlie Rainer. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and spouses; Kori and Scott Powers, Skye and Wade Ritter, Kade Brown, Jordan and Alannah Rainer, Mamie Brown, Maggie Brown, Whitney Rainer, Molly Stewart, McKinley Brown, Montgomery Brown, Jackson Rainer; and 7 great-grandchildren.
