Judy Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Gayle Espey Jones, 81, who went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Boys Ranch Cemetery at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will follow in Amarillo at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, at 3:00 PM. The family invites you to a reception immediately following the memorial service. 

She was born November 6, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas, and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1960. She dedicated her life to caring for the young and the elderly, working as a teacher’s aide, a caregiver, and a house parent and mentor at Cal Farley’s Boys’ Ranch.  

Judy knew no stranger. Her fun-loving humor, generous spirit, and warmth touched everyone around her, and her legacy of compassion and faith will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She was a resilient fighter to the end.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Mel Jones, who was her constant companion and closest friend throughout a lifetime of memories together. She also leaves behind her cherished family, including her children, Kelli and Todd; her son-in-law, John; five grandchildren, Logan, Keaton, Addi, Nathan, and Kaitlin; three great-grandchildren, Jett, Scarlett, and Joey; and her niece, Heather and husband Eddie, and great-nieces, Aubrey, Ellie, and Einsley. She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Espey, her mother, Maxine Black Quick, her stepfather, Frank Quick, and her brother, Jack “Bub” Espey. Her family was her pride and joy; she filled our lives with laughter, wisdom, and endless love.

Although we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace and with the Lord.
