June was born on August 12, 1936, in Plattsburgh, New York to Eron and Julia Irene (Gill) Moran. As a child, June showed a great love for reading. She loved being in school where she had a library at her disposal. She would walk to school every day carrying her shoes because her father told her he was only buying one pair of shoes per school year, and if they wore out, she would just have to go bare foot. She didn’t mind however, so long as she could get to school. June loved reading so much, her first job was in a library in the small town where she lived. She always had a book in her hand. Even as her health failed her later in life, she continued to read and carry a book, even in her lap in her wheelchair.
Her love for reading led to her career path as an educator. She completed her studies at West Texas State University, now WTA&M University, where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch for many years where she shaped the minds of many young men.
June was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and many extended family. Those left to cherish her memories are her nephew, Charlie Moran, and her long time trusted friend, D’Esta Sharp; as well as many former students and colleagues.
