Justina McCurry, age 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig as Celebrant. Burial is at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 28, in the funeral home, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Justina was born in Nazareth Texas to Charles and Helena Leinen Heck on July 26, 1921. She graduated from Tulia High School. In November, 1941, she married Lynn Skinner. They were married for 22 years until his death in 1963. In October, 1977, Justina married Melton McCurry and they were married for 29 years until his death in 2006. She was a bookkeeper and office manager for Ramey Construction Company, Claude Mathis Construction, and John Farrell Lumber Company from which she retired in 1986. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an active member of St. Veronica’s Circle. Justina enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Lynn Skinner in 1963; her second husband, Melton McCurry in 2006; one son, Lynn Edward Skinner; two daughters, Janice Ford and Evelyn George and her stepdaughter, Twila Vaughn; ten sisters and three brothers.
Justina is survived by her daughter, Lynette Billington and husband Steve of Amarillo; two stepsons, John McCurry and wife Diane, Pierce McCurry and wife Velvet, Son in-law, George Ford; Stepson in law, Steve Vaughn; two sisters, Calista Huber and Imelda Cook; one brother, Charles Heck, Jr.; grandchildren, Bob Billington and wife Valarie, Warren Billington and wife Rhonda, Jerry Billington and wife Lindy, Janette Kiser, Robyn Ford, Kay Smith and husband Randy, Tina Green and husband Kelly, Shawna Ford, Shannon Chesser and husband Jason, Jeff McCurry and wife Jennifer, Greg McCurry and wife Micki, Johnny McCurry, Matt McCurry and wife Beth; Michael, Mitchell, Matt, and Sarah Vaughn; and 29 great grandchildren.
