Karan Joelle Jones

Momma passed away peacefully on her precious 67th birthday at Northwest Texas hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

She took her first breath in the arms of her parents Ruth and Wilber Mills on March 13,1952 in Gardner, Ks. At the time she was blessed with two siblings Ernie and Kathy. At the age of 3 years old her parents parted ways, where she lived with friends, relatives, and babysitters from 1955 to 1962. Without her mother ever knowing, at the age of 10 years old her father placed her and her two siblings in to the Turley Children’s Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she lived from 1962 to 1970, She graduated from Tulsa McLain High School in 1970.

She resided in Guymon Oklahoma. In 1975 with two children of her own Nicholus and Melanie, she met Alfred Griffing and joined hands in Mankato, Minn. They resided in Guymon, Oklahoma where he had 9 children of his own Duane, Betsy, Donald, Barbra, Mari, Joyce, Jim, Mike, and Rick.  That same year, at the age of 23 she along with her two siblings reunited with their mother in Oklahoma, were they learned about three other siblings, they had not met Debbie, John, and Vickie Byrd.  In late 1977 her husband took momma back to Minnesota, where she spent several days visiting with her momma, at that time she met one of her sister’s (Debbie) for the first time.

She worked in Guymon, Oklahoma as a certified nurse assistant for many years, until she graduated in June 1981 by receiving her LVN nursing degree in Liberal, Ks. She worked for Dunaway Manor and Guymon Memorial hospital in Guymon Oklahoma, until her and her husband parted ways in August 1986.

She then moved to Amarillo, Texas where she transferred her nursing license and started working for Heritage Convalescent Center in December 1986.  She married Bobby Jones in late 1987 and parted ways after five years.  She moved to Dallas Texas in 1992 where she worked for a year, her place of work Heritage Convalescent Center transferred her back to Amarillo, Texas. She worked for Heritage Convalescent Center for 17 years. She loved taking care of her senior citizens, and they always had a special place in her heart.  In September 2003 after a major open-heart surgery, she could not work any longer due to her health.  She kept her nursing license up to date, as she worked so hard to not let it go so quick. She was a devoted nurse for 44 years.

She met Carl Campsey in late December 1992 and became best friends, in September 2003 after her heart surgery Karan and Carl were inseparable and he was her companion. He cared for her until her last days. Everyone knew him as her husband, she did not put it another way.

In June 2014 she met her other siblings in Kansas, for the first time when their mother Ruth Byrd passed away. Momma loved her five siblings, she was blessed, and she still had so much love to share with them. She was so happy to see her sister Vickie again on her last days on earth. She loved and always felt the love they all had for her and always will, she brightened up every time she spoke about them, or when she talked on the phone with them, gave her so much joy. She was and will forever be an Extraordinary woman, the mother love that she may never got to really experience growing up, she gave us the best love that no other mother could ever bless Nik and I with, I am beyond grateful to be her daughter. I am going to miss our talks, laughs, her guidance, her beautiful smile that always lite up the room wherever she was, sugar kisses on my cheek, tight hugs, playing bingo and cards, her famous buttermilk chicken, saying “I love you baby girl” with her sweet voice, “ I Love you first” as she’d tell us all, everything about my beautiful precious momma, I will deeply miss!  She was a Magnificent Nana to her grandchildren who will forever miss and loved her as much as her children did. It will never be the same without her. As her family were planning an earthly birthday party for her, it became a bittersweet heavenly birthday celebration.  She was a heck of a fighter, through diabetes, a major open heart surgery, renal failure, to other health issues, although  she was determined it was not going to take her down, she would still do her best as much as she could, and giving those big hugs that always made you feel so secured, those tight hugs will be dearly missed too. She never complained, she never gave up her faith through it all, most of all when Jesus came to take her home, she was at peace.

She was preceded in heaven by her parents Ruth Byrd and Wilber Mills, a granddaughter Keely Bramblet. Her fur baby Mr.Kitty

She was survived by  her fur baby Nosey, her husband Carl Campsey, her son Nicholus Griffing (wife Becky), her daughter Melanie Bramblet (husband Donald), seven grandchildren Kenee’, Dylan, Karlee, and Malloreigh, Bramblet, Cheyenne and Odin Griffing all of Amarillo., Shadlynn Arnold and three great-grandsons all from Wichita, Ks.  Three sisters Kathy Dittmeyer (husband Brent) from Enid, Okla. Debbie and Vickie Byrd from St. Paul, Minn. two brothers Ernie Mills (wife Beckey) from Drummond, Okla. and John Byrd from St. Paul Minn. Several nieces and nephews whom she adored.

The family would like to stress their gratitude to her doctor’s and their staff, US Renal Care Amarillo Dialysis, to her nurse Faye, momma adored you. Staff at Vibra Rehabilitation Center. Schooler Funeral Home Robert and staff. Thank you for taking great care of our precious loved one.

Arrangements have been made to see my Beautiful Precious Momma, at Schooler Funeral Home 4100 South Georgia Street on Saturday March 23rd @ 1:00pm Following at 2:00pm with momma's special request, celebration of life will be at 4115 South Hughes Street Amarillo, Texas. Where she loved spending every special occasion that took place.

Momma loved bright beautiful colors. Please feel free to dress casual, she would not want it any other way
