Katherine “Kay” Eldridge was born to William and Margot Carrier Eldridge on April 25, 1948 in Austin, Texas. After graduation from Austin High School, Katherine received her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and her master’s degree from University of Houston. She was a licensed social worker by the State of Texas working in the Houston and Amarillo area. She met and married Duane Sanders, the father of her children in December of 1969. Kay received many awards and accolades for her service as a social worker. She was a member of the Houston Chorale and the Amarillo Community Chorale and sang publicly for many years. She had a heart for helping others and was generous, loving and kind hearted. She is preceded in death by father W.R. Eldridge; Aunt Betty Kinnan, Uncle Robert Kinnan; and grandparents Joseph and Gretchen Carrier. She is survived by daughter Margot Berry and husband Jeff of Bulverde, Texas; son Brad Sanders and wife April of Bulverde, Texas; sister JoAnn Fox and husband James of Truchas, New Mexico; mother Margot Eldridge of Santa Fe, New Mexico; grandchildren Cassidy, Noah and Tate Berry, Damian and Braden Sanders, all of Bulverde, Texas; niece Charlotte Ann Graham, great nephews Ace and Van Graham, all of Santa Fe, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to BSA Hospice Olivia’s Angels at P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176.
