The angels carried Kathryn Pearson to Heaven on May 15, 2019.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2019 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
She was born in Glendale, Arizona to Helen and Frank Carden who preceded her in death. All of her childhood was spent in Glendale where her dad was the justice of the peace. It was especially difficult during her teenage years when she was driving and trying to avoid any speeding tickets so she wouldn’t have to appear before her dad in court. She didn’t always succeed.
She moved to Phoenix in her mid-twenties when she married Gene Roxbury. Their time together was much too short. They were married six years and had a son before Gene died in 1964.
Later she met Ben Pearson who proposed marriage after having three dates in five days. They were married within the month and had forty-nine years together until he died in 2015.
She belonged to the Phoenix Symphony Guild, Arizona Opera Guild, Red Hat Society, and many other organizations. She was a choir mother, den mother, and participate in many other groups in which her children were involved.
She loved the Lord, church, and Bible study. In her younger years she taught Sunday school and played the piano and organ at her church. Her favorite things to do were to listen to her son and grandsons play the piano and watch football with her family whom she loved and adored.
Everyone was always welcome in her home. She was a very caring, thoughtful person who loved to have fun. She always tried to find humor in any situation and had a positive attitude in spite of numerous serious health issues, best epitomized when, upon being diagnosed with lymphoma, she used it as an opportunity to dress up as Queen Elizabeth I after chemotherapy took her hair.
She is survived by her sons, Byron (Kim) and Mike (Ann), stepdaughter Julie (Virgil), grandsons Nate and Josh, stepgranddaughters Cammy and Cassie, and two nieces by her brother Harold who recently preceded her in death.
