Dr. Kathy O’Neal, M.D., 49, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Amarillo Botanical Gardens Auditorium, 1400 Streit Drive Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Kathy was born July 21, 1963, in Amarillo to Richard and Claire O’Neal. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1981. Kathy then attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in May 1985. She continued her education at The University of Texas School of Medicine, graduating in 1993. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Arizona in 1996.

She married Dr. John Marchant, M.D., on May 3, 1997, in Tucson, Ariz. She began her pediatric practice in Colorado Springs, Colo., from 1998 to 2005, then moved to Amarillo with her husband and son in 2008. She cherished parenting her son and sharing time with her family and many friends. She was such an inspiration to all of us.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Marchant; a son, Jackson Cole Marchant; her parents, Claire and Richard O’Neal of Amarillo; a sister, Gail Scott and husband John of Amarillo; a brother, Danny O’Neal and wife Laurie of Amarillo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

The family suggests memorials be to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, P.O.
