Kattie Nash-Vansandt

June 6, 1938 — December 15, 2013

Kattie Hartence Nash-Vansandt “Tencie” 75, of Hereford, Texas passed away on December 15, 2013.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21 in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home with John Hanley, of Central Church of Christ of Hereford, officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 E. I-40.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Mrs. Nash-Vansandt was born June 6, 1938 in Katy, Texas to Frank and Katie Thomason.  She moved to Amarillo as a child.  After graduation from Amarillo High School, she married the “first” Love of her Life, her “High school Sweet heart”, Jimmy Cecile Nash of Hedley.  She was preceded in death by Jim on January 30, 1996.  Kattie married the “second” Love of her life, Lon Dean Vansandt, in Clovis N.M. on April 4, 1998.  They made their home in Hereford.

She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi International Chapter XP518, and a member of the National hikers and campers association for many years.  She loved to paint, knit and crochet; anything crafty.  She also loved flowers, gardening and the outdoors.  Kattie was very compassionate with a love for animals, especially her dachshund “lulu”.  She attended the Central Church of Christ in Hereford.

Kattie was preceded in death by her parents Frank Thomason and Katie Thomason Boward; first husband Jimmy C. Nash; and a son Robert Wayne Nash.

Survivors include her husband Lon Dean Vansandt of Hereford; Jimmy D. Nash Sr. and wife Trudy of Borger, Micah L. Nash Sr. and wife, Heather of Kansas, Robin L. McKillip and husband Danny, Christy Woodard and husband Rickey, Blane Nash, Perrie Gilmore and husband Jimmie; all of Amarillo, Loren Nash and wife Christine of Virginia, Laurie Freeman and husband Herschel of Hawaii, James Vansandt and wife Kate of Maine, Collin Vansandt and wife Joann of Alabama, Eldon Vansandt and wife Regan of Calvary Canada  20 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren; three sisters, Perrie Lou Abbott and husband Harold of Seattle Washington, Vonnie Warren and husband Ricky of Hurst Tx, Lana Brown and husband Michael of Texarkana; her sister-in-law, Lena Mae Morris of Amarillo; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special extended family, Debra Erickson and husband Earl “Grizzly”.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Mr. Vansandt, P.O. 852, Hereford, TX 79045.

Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 pm, Friday, December 20 at the funeral home.
