Kay Evelyn (Reid) O’Brien, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was a devout Christian throughout her life.

Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Msgr. Joe Bixenman presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Houston at a later date.

Kay was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma and spent her formative years there graduating from Muskogee High School. She continued her education at Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, and later at West Texas A&M, where she obtained a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy.

Kay was a dedicated mother to her children, Donald Morrow Jr. and Marsha (Morrow) Bustos. Her love for her children was evident in everything she did.

Throughout her career, Kay made significant contributions in Special Education for the Amarillo Independent School District, Silas & Mason Hanger, Amarillo College, and through her private practice as a music therapist. She was passionate about using music to heal and enrich the lives of others.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Kay generously volunteered her time and talents to organizations such as the Children’s Rehabilitation Center, Amarillo Music Club and Amarillo Panhellenic, among others where she made lasting impacts within her community.

Kay is survived by her children, Don and Marsha, grandchildren, Amy Kathleen (Morrow) Stalboerger, Josh Stalboerger, David Patrick Morrow, and Damia Ann Boller, Nicholas Bustos and Jacob Bustos and her great-grandchildren Grayson Gregory Bustos and James William Stalboerger.

Kay will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith.

Kay Evelyn (Reid) O’Brien will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
