Kenneth Rodger (Tex) Hand
Kenny Hand, 52, of Amarillo passed away December 11, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church, 106 Tanglewood Dr., Amarillo, with Dr. Roger Hubbard officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Kenny was born February 3, 1959 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Rodger and Patricia Sue Hand. He was a 1977 graduate of Fritch High, but his heart was at Tascosa High, where he held numerous track records. Tex retired after 26 years from IBP and he spent the last 10 years at Hand Industrial Inc.
He was voted Cancer Survivor of the Year in 2006 and 2011. Kenny was asked to speak at various functions for Texas Oncology, giving support and strength to others, something that he was passionate about.
Kenny was a loving Husband, Father, Pappy and Brother. He was a friend to all who knew him. Kenny lived larger than life, but most of all Kenny loved the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Hand.
Survivors: Wife, Leisa; children, Julie Lucero and her husband, Dominic of Fritch, Rachel Hand of Lubbock, Ryan Hand and fiancé, Raetanna of Amarillo; stepson, Tarrant Autry of Amarillo; grandchildren, Anzlie Grace Lucero, Jackson Ryan Lucero and Triston Rion Autry; father, Rodger Hand and his wife, Jackie; mother, Patricia Sue Cunningham Hand; brothers, Robin Hand and his wife, Linda, Nathan Hand and his wife, Rebecca, Mike Hand and his wife, Joanna, Patrick Hand and his wife, Marci, Jamie Hand; special nieces, Lindsy and Annie; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; best friend, Kenny Bostick; and Fritzi, his faithful four legged companion.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lim and the entire staff at Texas Oncology for going above and beyond and for their compassion, care, and love of Kenny.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13, 2011, from 6-7 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.
