September 3, 1943 — July 16, 2014

Ken Keel passed away July 16, 2014, in Amarillo after a courageous battle
with lung cancer.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Schooler Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be 2:30 P.M., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Mr. Glen Walton officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Ken was born on September 3, 1943 in Pampa, Texas to Sam and Dorothy Keel.  He attended Borger High School, Frank Phillips and North Texas.  Ken served in the National Guard beginning in 1962.

Ken married Patsy Aldridge in Amarillo on June 12, 1981.  Together, he and Patsy treasured time spent together.  Whether it was raising the miniature horses, enjoying a quiet evening on the patio watching the deer or on their travels together to Ireland and Alaska they loved time spent together and with family and friends.

Ken was employed at Braniff Airways until 1984, and then worked at Budweiser and Andrews Transport as a dispatcher.  In December 2008 he retired  from Huft Trucking, where he worked as the office manager.

He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter; hunting deer, elk, pheasant and dove.  He also liked watching old westerns regardless of how many times he had seen them before! Ken also enjoyed watching the Rangers, Cowboys and all College sports – his favorites being Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor and OSU.  He also loved to golf.  He was charming in his own way and definitely one of a kind.  Ken will be missed immensely by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ken is survived by his wife, Patsy Keel, one sister, Gloria Pridemore and husband, Shelby, two in-laws, Dana Hodge and Doug Aldridge and wife, Joy, six nieces and nephews, David Pridemore and wife, Wendy and son, Jack; Kim Lee and son, Jonathan, Mitch Hodge and wife, Tracy and son, Jesse, Kristi Shadbolt and husband, Chris and son, Cody, Alison Aldridge and daughter, Emma and Phillip Aldridge and wife Brenda and children, Julieta (Tita) and Colette (Coco).
