Kent Thayne Roberts

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28 at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Murray Gossett and Todd Lovett will officiate. Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 1 at 2:00 P.M. at the Elysian Gardens in Salt Lake City, Utah. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Dr. Roberts was born in Billings, Montana on June 20, 1952. He moved with his family to Amarillo in 1960. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School in 1970 and the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston in 1977, specializing in radiology. He received many honors in the radiology field during his medical career.
Dr. Roberts had a great love of the arts. He studied music and played the piano. He collected and studied visual arts. He had a huge heart when it came to animals. He owned two cats, Marmalade and Samber, who were his constant companions.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thayne Roberts in 1987.
Dr. Roberts is survived by his mother Ilene Roberts Balliett and her husband Robert Balliett of Amarillo, his special friend, Jolene Clement of Amarillo, many cousins throughout the country and his two companions, Marmalade and Samber.
In honor of Dr. Roberts, the family is planning to donate most of his art collection to a local museum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent in honor of Dr. Roberts to Texas Oncology or to a favorite charity.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, August 27 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
