Landon, or “Linda” as he was sometimes referred to as, came into this world a spitfire from the get-go. He was born on February 13, 2005 in Amarillo, Texas where he would spend his whole life. Raised in rural North Amarillo, he learned to entertain himself just like any other kid; he developed a love for all things horsepower. He was the quintessential “gear head” if you will. If it had wheels and a motor, he would work on it and more than likely race it at some point; and certainly did not mind “checking someone’s oil”. If you know, you know. No matter if he was with his family, or just hanging out with friends, if someone got on a bike or in a car, you could hear from out of nowhere, “Do a burn out”. Landon simply loved the thrill of all things car or motorcycle.
This love for motors led him into his passion of being able to work on them. Learning from friends, family, and even self-taught moments, Landon became a pretty good mechanic at a very young age. His attention to detail coupled with his quick pace learning style made it almost easy to him.
To know Landon was to love him. He had two very conflicting sides to him. On the outside was a quick witted, smart mouth, hot head who had a very short fuse. However, once you cracked that outer shell, there was so much love and kindness inside. Landon loved fiercely and wore his heart on his sleeve. You just had to get to know him to experience it. His smile was contagious, his laugh infectious. Although there exist only a few photos without him showing the “birds”, you could not help but laugh because that was just Landon.
Landon is preceded in death by his very closest friends Jeff “Cracker” Thompson, Mikeal Donovan Fierro, Dustin Moore, Andrew Springs, and his beloved dog Zeus. Those left to cherish his memories are his mother Clarissa McGinnis, father Matt Ruthstrom, sisters Paige and Shannon (Peyton) McGinnis, brothers Blake (Cydney) and Shane McGinnis; and his very beloved niece Jalei McGinnis. Landon also leaves his grandparents Kenny and Debbie Hotchkiss and Keith and Sharon Fisher, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family, as well as his closest group of friends.
