Laquita Beth Norvell

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 15th, at Beacon Baptist Church.  Pastor Scott Auth will officiate. Burial will be held at Ft. Sumner Cemetery, Ft. Sumner, New Mexico.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. Laquita was born on July 28, 1930, in Floydada, TX.  She married her beloved husband, James Arthur Norvell on November 1, 1946. She moved to Hereford, TX in 2001 and then moved to Amarillo, TX in 2006. She was a participating member of Merry Homemakers Ext Club, Ranch Friends Club and Valley Community Organization. Laquita never met a stranger and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico until she moved to Amarillo and became a member of Beacon Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband; one son, Billy Bob Norvell; and two brothers, Leon Burgett and L.C. Burgett.Survivors include her two daughters, Jackye Taylor of Amarillo, TX and Rebecca Valentic of Woodson, TX; one brother, Leroy Burgett of Winter Springs, FL; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
