Lemuel Cleo Allen (L.C), 89, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Jack was born April 12, 1928 to Lemuel Cleo Allen Sr. and Bessie Violet Speer in Palmer County, Texas. He was an only child. Jack attended schools mostly in Memphis, Texas and graduated from Memphis High School. He attended Texas Tech before enlisting in the Army on the last day of WWII. He was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Airlift helping to send goods into West Germany. He proudly served 3 years.
He came home to Memphis two times, after his tour was over. He met and married Menerva Baskerville and raised two sons before her passing in 1985.
Jack owned and ran several service stations and worked at Pantex for 10 years, both in Amarillo and Tennessee retiring from First National Bank of Amarillo. He later met and married Joyce Ann Williamson in 1986. Jack was a generous and caring man, he loved to shop for groceries and share them with others.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; Bill and Poyon Allen of Temecula, CA; Larry and Pokye Allen of Madison, AL; Gary and Michelle Williamson of Temple, TX; Jerry T. Williamson and Larry D. Williamson of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Jessica and David Gonsalves; Janette Allen; Willie and Amber Allen; David and Sosemon Allen; and two great grandchildren.
