Lee Roy Baker, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday, August 02, 2009.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Brentwood Chapel, SchoolerFuneral Home. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Lee Roy was born March 7, 1925 in Roff, Oklahoma to Roy and Annie Baker. He was raisedin Turkey, Texas where his family moved soon after his birth. After finishing school he joined the Navy, serving during World War II. He married Hazel Bramlet on May 30, 1947 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2008.
Lee Roy worked for Greyhound, New Mexico Transportation Co. and TNM&O, retiring in 1990.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Lee Roy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and great-grandsons, Tyler Baker and Michael Mazza.
Survivors include four sons, Gary Baker and wife Bernice of Clovis, NM, Keith Baker and wife Freda of Plainview, Randy Baker and wife Paula of Amarillo and David Baker of Roswell, NM; a daughter Cynthia Ackerman and husband John of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three Great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
