Samuel “Lee” Brown, 71, of Amarillo passed away April 23, 2021.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Lee was born August 26, 1949 in Amarillo, TX. He attended Caprock High School and then joined the United States Army in 1967, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after 3 years. During his time in the Army, he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and was also stationed in Germany. His military awards include National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and Expert with M-60 Machine Gun. Lee was proud of his military service and remained extremely patriotic throughout his lifetime.
Lee traveled around the world and was employed in various fields before joining Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked as a track welder supervisor for 31 years. He retired from Burlington Northern/Santa Fe at the age of 60. Lee had a wide variety of interests, loved to travel and take his sons fishing in the mountains of Colorado and in Corpus Christi. He was a compassionate, affectionate and entertaining man. He struck up conversations and made new friends everywhere he went. He was and always will be the center of the world for Jason, Travis and Donna and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam L. Brown and Margaret Moore Brown.
Lee is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Jason Brown and wife, Amanda and Travis Brown; brother, Danny Brown and wife, Vanissa; sister, Eileen Bartholomew and husband, Larry; as well as 2 nephews, 1 niece, grandnephews and grandnieces.
