Lee Ragan

August 31, 1931 — January 13, 2018

Horace Lee Ragan, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Amarillo.

A visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Church of Christ at The Colonies, 4500 Wesley Road with Mr. Dick Marcear officiating.  Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Lee was born on August 31, 1931 in Wheeler, Texas to Oscar Dennis and Beulah Maud Ragan.  After graduating from Wheeler High School, Lee joined the United States Army where he served for six years.  He then attended Texas A&M University.  Lee married Patty Jean Greer in Amarillo in 1954.  They were married for 52 years before her passing on February 22, 2007.  Lee was an electrical engineer.  He worked 32 years for SPS, Westinghouse and ABB.  He then started the consulting firm, Ragan & Associates in 1991 which operated for ten years.  Lee was a people person.  He and Patty enjoyed traveling the world together.  He was an avid reader as well.  To his grandchildren, he was fondly known as “Popper”.  He was a member of the Church of Christ at The Colonies.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Jean; his parents; and an infant brother, Jackie Ragan.

Lee was survived by two daughters, Risa Lee Jones and husband David of Lubbock, and Lori Jean Hill and husband Scott of Denton; two sisters, his twin sister Doris Callison of Navajo Dam, NM, and Bonita Berry of Amarillo; one brother, Oscar Dennis Ragan Jr and wife Bea of Beaver, OK; five grandchildren, Caitlin Hill and husband Hunter of Lubbock, Alex Jones of Denton, Ragan Smith and husband Rickey of Lafayette, LA, Ryan Hill and Karli Hill, both of Denton; one great-grandchild, Logan Hill of Lubbock; and his friends, Lana & Gary McBride of Bushland.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ at The Colonies, 4500 Wesley Rd, Amarillo, TX 79119.
