Leoma was born September 12, 1925 in Shamrock, TX to Eugene and Velvie Martin. Leoma was a 1943 graduate of Shamrock High School. She was employed by Farmers and Merchant State Bank following graduation until 1951. She then moved to Pampa where she was employed by Cabot Company and Ingersoll Rand until her retirement in 1982.
In 1954 she met and married the love of her life Norris Calvin Walker. Leoma and Norris were happily married for 54 years.
All the years of Leoma's life were spent in service to others. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and World Bible Missions. Both Leoma and Norris served many years as volunteers for Meals on Wheels. No matter the inclement West Texas weather, Leoma made sure meals were delivered to the needy. Leoma and Norris were generous supporters to many Christian charities. They were intently dedicated to helping disadvantaged children through their donations to residential programs for children both in Texas and New Mexico.
Leoma was a lifelong Christian. She loved Jesus and she loved to go to church. She regularly attended Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa. She continued her faithfulness to worship at Bell Avenue Church of Christ following her move to Amarillo. Even as Leoma's health began to fade, she faithfully attended church regardless of what it took to get there. She was an inspiration to many.
Although Leoma and Norris did not have children of their own, they doted on their many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her listening ear and love she poured into each of their lives. She was our sweet Aunt Lee, always ready to welcome us into her home and into her life. She will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, friends, and church members who visited Leoma. We would like to say a special thank you to her nephew David Kilpatrick and his wife Carroll. They were her angels on earth. They did the daily things only a family knows to do.
Leoma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norris, her brother Eugene Martin, her sisters Lavern Martin, Maurine Martin Kilpatrick and Geraldine Martin Hawk.
She is survived by one sister, Bonnie Martin Beller and numerous other loving family members.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, Tennessee 37214 or BSA Hospice.
