Linda Ann (aka Big Mama) was born July 15, 1939 in De Queen, AR to E.T. and Angeline Hopson Penney. She resided in Amarillo most of her life. Linda Ann married Harold Brazile on June 8, 1957. Together they owned and operated Harold’s Lil Meat Market in 1964 and later, Harold’s Farmers Market on 1308 S. Grand St. until they gave the reins over to their son, Lyndon. Linda also helped Harold to establish and run HFM Trucking Co.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are sons, Lyndon Brazile and wife, Tracy of Amarillo and Steve Brazile and wife, Lorraine of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Kim Benson and husband, Tim of Amarillo; sister, Marian Chandler of De Queen, AR; “Big Mama” to her five grandchildren, McKenzie Lawson, Magen Brazile, J.D. Benson, Emerson Brazile, Camden Brazile and Addison Brazile; and one very special great-grandchild, Macee Brazile.
She loved her grandchildren and was an active participant in helping raise them; her recipes and memories of spending time cooking with her are cherished by her family.
Special thanks to Dr. Bart Britten, Dr. Janet Scwartzenburg, ADC Pharmacy and Open Heart Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to their favorite charity in Linda’s name.
