Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Jones of Hollywood Road Community Church officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Lindia was born March 19, 1953 in Amarillo to George and Joyce James.  She married the love of her life, David Benningfield on December 3, 1971.  The couple had two children Lindy Lorel and David Cohen.  Lindia was a lifelong student and teacher of visual arts.  She held an Associate of Art from TSTI,  graduated with honors from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, where she obtained her Bachelor of Art degree and completed her Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Women’s University of Denton, Texas in 2005.A brilliant artist, Lindia blessed everyone around her with her vibrancy, both on canvas and in her life. She is preceded in death by her mother Joyce James.  The family will receive visitors at Schooler Funeral Home on Sunday, September 19th from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.Her family includes her husband David; a daughter Lorel Benningfield of San Antonio, Texas; son, Cohen Benningfield of San Antonio, Texas; her father,  George James of Amarillo; two sisters, Leah Guard and Stacey McClain of Amarillo; two brothers Wyatt James, of Amarillo, and Wade James of California; sister–in-law, Lois Christman of Rockwall, Texas, two brother-in-laws, E. W. Benningfield of Lyndale, Texas, and James Benningfield of Texline; and many nieces and nephews.
