Lois June Merriman

Lois was born June 18, 1936 in Olivia, Minnesota. She graduated from nursing school in Chicago, Ill. She married Dr. Robert Merriman August 27, 1960 in Chicago, Ill. They established residence in Amarillo, Texas in 1971.Lois was a devoted wife and mother who proudly raised six children. She was a fun loving mom with a silly side who will be greatly missed by all. She will be long remembered for  late night talks, down to earth counsel and her gentle strength that will remain an inspiration for her children and grandchildren.Lois was an avid reader, who also enjoyed running and working out. In her later years she enjoyed visiting grandchildren and caring for her dogs. She is preceded in death by her brothers Keith and Gordan Schnelle and a sister Virginia Trump.She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Merriman; sons, Robert Merriman and wife, Paula of Rowlett, Thomas Merriman and wife, Eileen of Amarillo; daughters, Sarah and husband James Blaine of Las Vegas, Jennifer and husband Glenn Tucker of Dallas; Melissa and husband, Bobby Frist of Nashville, and Amy and husband Brandon Ray of Amarillo; brothers Tom and Lloyd Schnelle and sisters Katherine Quinlan and Carolyn Schnelle; and 15 grandchildren.A special thanks to Hospice care of the Southwest, and to the Gardens at Childers Place for their wonderful care of mom. The last thing we would like to say “Thank you mom, for all you have done.
