Loma Faye Becker

Loma Faye Becker, 93, of Amarillo died Tuesday afternoon August 30, 2011.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Corky Holland officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Mrs. Becker was born March 27, 1918 in Carbon, Texas to H.O. and Anna Hearn. She was raised in Eastland County and graduated from Morton Valley High School in 1936. She continued her education at John Tarleton Agricultural College in Stephenville, Texas and then graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Homemaking Education in 1940.
She taught homemaking and was an Assistant Home Demonstration Agent in Eastland County, Texas before moving to Colorado where she was the Morgan County Home Demonstration Agent. She then taught Homemaking Education in Brush High School in Brush, Colorado until 1954.
She married Harry Becker on September 29, 1946 in Brush. She and Harry were successful farmers near Brush and Hoyt, Colorado for more than 30 years. After retirement in 1980, they moved to Amarillo where she resided until her death.
Loma Faye was saved in 1943 and was active in church her entire life. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School in the Hoyt Community Church for many years. They were active members of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. Mrs. Becker was a member of First Baptist Church at the time of her death. Loma loved the Lord and her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters, Vida Reece, Opal Hearn, Inez Cogburn, Mary Heitschmidt, Joy Trout, and a brother, Claude Hearn. Survivors include a son, Steven Becker and wife R’Jana of Amarillo; a granddaughter Sara E’Lise and husband Ryan Esch of Denver, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Ware Living Center Cherry II for the loving care given to Loma during her stay. Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Ministries at First Baptist Church, 1201 South Tyler, Amarillo, Texas.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7:00 p.m.Thursday at the funeral home.
