Lorraine Black-Irby, age 87, died Sunday, July 14, 2013

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17 at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington with Pastor Bonita Knox of Trinity Lutheran Church of Clovis, NM officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Pallbearers will be: Milo Bowen, Frank Miller, Robert Kennedy, Don Bandy, Billy Armijo and Jennifer Kaczmarek.

Lorraine was born in Minneapolis MN on February 13, 1926 to William and Lillian Wende. She worked in the finance office of Cannon AFB.  She married Horace Junior Black in June 1945; he passed away in 1965. She married Dale Irby in March 1984; he passed away in 2007. Lorraine was a talented seamstress; she also enjoyed crochet and crafts. She was a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary Post 3280 in Clovis, NM.  She was known for her smile, confidence and for being truthful.  Her family was always important. She held a fulltime job while raising 6 children. Lorraine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clovis for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Chuck Wende; sister, Charlotte Wende; daughter, Leslie Ann Black-Gardner, and granddaughter, Susan Renae Gardner.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Marie Black-Bowen and husband Milo of Clovis, New Mexico, Glenda Lee Black-Miller and husband Frank of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Celeste Violet Black-Kennedy and husband Robert of Amarillo, Patsy Jean Black-Bandy and husband Don of Bovina, and Nancy June Black-Armijo of Denver, Colorado; son, Horace Junior Black II and fiancé Jennifer of Aurora, CO.; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 8 great- great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Pastor Stephen Friedrich, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and Hospice Care of the Southwest.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the funeral home.
