Louise M. Calabro, 75, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2024.

Louise was born on August 1, 1948, to L.T. and Betty Owens in Babylon, New York. Growing up in the State of Oregon, Louise developed a fondness for people, plants, animals, and the outdoors.

With her appreciation for plants and flowers in full bloom, she worked at Sharon’s Flowers for a number of years. Every spring, she looked forward to decorating her country style porch with fresh flowers and feeding the local animals that would call it home for the summer.

In 1971, Louise met John Calabro in Ventura, California. On October 30, 1971, Louise and John married and went on to enjoy life together in California, and eventually settling in Amarillo, Texas. For 53 years, John and Louise enjoyed traveling and discovering new places together. Louise would often challenge her mind with crossword puzzles while traveling on long road trips. More importantly, with her husband, she developed a deep love for God’s Word, the Bible. Louise became a diligent student of the Bible for the rest of her life.

On June 16, 1962, Louise was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. For over 40 years, she volunteered many hours each month as a full-time volunteer minister in helping people draw close their Creator, Jehovah God. In this work, she cultivated many close friendships. She worked tirelessly as a construction volunteer in building and maintaining places of worship of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She developed a reputation as a self-sacrificing person who truly loved her neighbor. She always put the interests of others ahead of her own.

Louise was predeceased by her father and mother, L.T. and Betty Owens, her sister Rochelle Harley, and her 2 brothers, Gary and Michael. She is survived by her loving husband, John Calabro, nephews and nieces, and many beloved friends.

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1518 E. Central Avenue, Amarillo, Texas on July 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
