Lowell Folkner

Lowell Dewayne Folkner, 83, of Amarillo died April 24, 2018.

A vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Lowell was born January 21, 1935 in Paris, Texas to Collins and Ida Folkner. He married Wilma Folkner on July 14, 1961 in Amarillo, Texas and was a devoted husband.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served as a past President of St. Mary’s School Board and associated groups. Lowell was active as a Kids Inc. and AAU Track Coach. He was a lifelong member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBFW).

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Wilma and his brother Leo.

He is survived by two sons; Eric Folkner and wife Teri, and Kirk Folkner and wife Dyann; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Graham, Austin, Tyler and Erin; one great-grandchild, Rayden; sister, Dolores Austin; six nieces and nephews; and eight great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Parish School Fund, 1200 S. Washington St., Amarillo, Texas 79102.
