A Celebration of Life service is to be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 30, 2017 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church, 106 Tanglewoood Dr, #B, Amarillo, TX 79118 with Dr. Roger Hubbard as officiant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery at 10:00 am Monday, October 30, 2017.
Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lucille Virginia Dean Perry passed away on October 25, 2017. Born in Antioch, Oklahoma on June 22, 1922 to Luther and Elva Dean. On October 22, 1939, she was married to the love of her life William D. (Bill) Perry in Graham, Texas. A long term resident of Amarillo, Bill and Lucille originally settled in Amarillo in 1954 on South Highland Street. After Bill’s retirement, they purchased a parcel of land near Lake Tanglewood, where they constructed a home and opened a Shamrock Service Station. Lucille was physically active and was an advocate of swimming, doing pool laps well into her 90’s and was a twenty-seven year volunteer at the BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. She moved to live with her son Bill in Helotes, Texas in 2015 and was recently with her son John in Granbury, Texas.
Lucille was a devoted wife and mother of four sons and was known by all for her thoughtfulness and gentle spirit. She was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Nanny”. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Elva Dean, two brothers, Luther Dean and Kenneth Dean and her loving husband, Bill Perry, of 67 years.
Lucille is survived by her sister Mary Hobbs of Georgetown; and sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Brenda Perry of Sugar Land, Bill and Betty Jo Perry of Helotes, John and Tess Perry of Granbury, and Bob and Ruth Perry of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 15 grandchildren, Kenny Perry, Morgan Higgins, Sandie Salubre, Renea Dempsey, Troy Perry, Jana Long, Kim Freeman, Elizabeth Beck, Cindy Moore, Tina Bonura, Terrie McDaniel, Krista Boezinger, Misty Phelps, Andrew Perry, William (Dusty) Perry; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of Lucille’s many friends who enriched and shared in her joyful life. Lucille was adored and cherished by so many who loved her and will miss her greatly. We find comfort that Lucille is residing in heaven, with her loved ones, in a peaceful existence free of pain, strife and worry.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
