She was born to Jesse and Mary Cole, Nov. 8, 1925, in Achille, Okla. Shemarried Wilford Hanna on June 18, 1946, in Clovis, N.M., and they livedtogether in Amarillo for over 53 years.She graduated from Gould High School in 1944 where she was captain of thegirls basketball team. After finishing school she moved from Gould, Okla.to Amarillo and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where shewas a telephone operator before becoming a homemaker after the birth ofher first child.She was an active member, at first, at Buchanan Street Baptist Church as aSunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School leader, then at FirstBaptist Church. Both Lucrecia `and Wilford volunteered many hours atBuchanan Street Community Center distributing food and clothing. Over theyears, Lucrecia helped women friends in her Sunday school class handlethe stress of a husband's death and their own health problems caused byadvancing age. She was always faithful, visiting with and helping themuntil their death.Lucrecia and Wilford were wonderful grandparents. They were interested intheir grandchildren's lives and devoted to their welfare. They tookdelight in making their home a welcoming place for them, and thegrandchildren reciprocated by coming over often for fun and games untilthey went off to college and started their careers.Lucrecia is survived by son Richard and wife Sue of Amarillo; son Markand wife Angie of Amarillo; and daughter Janet Hassell and husband Lee,of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rachel Hannaof Seattle, Wash.; Michael Hanna and wife Taira of Amarillo; AprylMcDonald and husband Greg of Midland; Jackson Austin and wife Ingrid ofEdgewood, N.M.; Mark Hanna, Jr. of Tyler; Martin Hanna of Amarillo;Christopher Hassell and wife Tanya of Keller; James Hassell and wifeShannon of Ft. Worth; and nine great-grandchildren.Lucrecia was predeceased by her parents; husband in 2000; an infant son,Kent, in 1952; four brothers: Floyd in 1997, Herman in 1999, James in1944, and Jesse Jr. in 2009; and three sisters: Ruby in 1998, Opal in1996, and Ann in 2004.
