Luise E. Willuhn, 79, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. Preceded in death by her mother, father, and two sisters of Germany.
Viewing will be Monday, November 9 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 1:00 p.m., at Chaparral Hills Baptist Church, 3300 West Cherry with Pastor Alan Burkhalter officiating.
Luise was born in Hagan, Westfallen, Germany October 16, 1930 to Hugo and Martha Troesken. She married Paul Willuhn on June 10, 1955. They had one son, Ulrich, and two daughters, Erika and Rosemarie. In 1960 on Luise’s 30th birthday, they moved to the United States. Paul and Luise have been married 54 years.
Surviving family includes her husband, son, two daughters, three grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandson and one great granddaughter.
Other family includes brothers, Werner and Wilhelm Troesken and their families of Illinois, and extended family of aunts and cousins in Illinois and Germany.
Luise was an amazingly strong woman who loved her family, friends, laughter, singing, dancing, sewing, cooking, baking, walking, bike riding and her little dog Skippy. The needs of others always came first. She always had a positive attitude and never complained. She always said “money doesn’t matter, as long as you have family and love – that’s all that matters.”
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be to the Alzheimers Association, 415 W. 8th Avenue, Suite 300, Amarillo, TX 79101.
