Lura Beatrice Pickle

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hillside Christian Church Chapel.  Rev. Roy Wheeler and Rev. Mike Nuthman will officiate. A private burial was held at Llano Cemetery.Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Bea was born on March 7, 1915 near Edgewood, Texas, the fourth of ten children born to George and Johanna Couch.She married Clabern R. Pickle on July 2, 1938 in Athens, Texas.  They moved to Amarillo in 1942.  They celebrated 61 years of marriage prior to his death in October of 1999.Bea was the owner of Draperies by Bea from 1965 until 1986.  After retirement, she held estate sales for several years.  Bea was always a caregiver and took care of many family members and friends.  She was a long-time member of Hillside Christian Church. The family would like to thank the staff at both The Continental and The Arbors for their loving care of her over the last eight years.Bea was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters and three brothers; Jessie Herriage, Maurine Williams, Johnnie Thompson, Frances Hayes, Bobbie Price, Mack Couch, Jack Couch and Billy Joe Couch. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Meeks and husband B.J. of Gun Barrel City, TX and Brenda Nipper and husband Fred of Amarillo.  She is also survived by her youngest brother, Rev. George Couch of Athens, TX; four grandchildren, Jerrod Hawbaker of Amarillo, Melinda Crow and Husband Gary of Whitney, TX, Allen West and wife Teresa of Las Vegas, NV, and Eric Brown of Ft. Worth, TX; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.The family requests memorial donations to be made to Olivia’s Angels in care of BSA Hospice P.O. Box 950 Amarillo TX 79107 or a charity of choice.
