It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Lynda Lu Stayton, who entered God’s eternal presence on March 4, 2025 at the age of 83.
Services will be held at Schooler Funeral Home in Amarillo on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Larry A. Capranica of Community Fellowship Clarendon presiding. Lynda will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetary, Tulia, TX, in a family ceremony.
Born to Markham and Louise Waddill on April 8, 1941 in Tulia, Texas, Lynda grew up in Tulia and later moved to Hereford, TX, where she met and married her husband of 66 years, James L. Stayton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Lynda was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo where she participated in the Women of Grace Bible study group. She was known as a prayer warrior by many. She was a kind and loving soul, always putting other’s needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all who knew her and she will be remembered for her strong faith and gentle spirit.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents Markham and Louise Waddill. She is survived by her husband, James Stayton of Amarillo, TX, her son, Dave Stayton (Cindy) of Canyon, TX; her daughter, Amy Nolan (Pat), of Houston, TX; and her sister Karen Capranica (Larry) of Clarendon, TX. She was the grandmother of Markham Stayton (Anne-Marie), Julie Stayton (Dana), Megan Till (Cory), Ryan Nolan (Nicole) and Samantha Hancock (Lloyd), who were the joy of her life. She was also blessed to meet her four great grandchildren, Morgan, Nora, Emmy, and Beacon, but sadly left this world before meeting two more expected great grand babies. Lynda also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply and prayed for regularly.
Lynda’s deep faith was exemplified by the humble manner in which she lived out her favorite Bible verse, Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Lynda will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing she was greeted into the Heavenly Father’s open arms as He said, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:23. May she rest in joy and peace.
