Lynn Britten

Lynn Britten, 69, of Groom, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Amarillo.

Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Mieczyslaw Przepiora as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Groom.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Lynn was born February 14, 1944 in Groom, to Leo and Marietta Britten.  He graduated from Groom High School and started his life as a farmer/rancher working closely with his brother, Amos, on a centennial farm.  He was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Groom.  He was a member of the Texas Cattle Feeder’s Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and served on various committees in the Groom Area.

He was a strong devoted father, and enjoyed his grandchildren. His passion in life was his ability to raise quality cattle, horses, and productive crops. He enjoyed dining and spending time with close friends and family.  He was a man of his word, with laughter in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carey Bichsel.

Survivors include two sons Leo Britten and wife Dayna of Canyon and Cody Britten and wife Julie of Groom;  one daughter, Kay Lynn McLaughlin and husband Scott of Conway; a step-daughter, Annet Waxler of Amarillo; a step-son Andy Waxler and wife Jodi of Happy; one brother Amos Britten and wife Loretta of Groom;  two sisters, Georgann Hinson and husband Bill of Groom and Mariellen Homfeld and husband Jerry of Adrian; 11 grandchildren, Owen, Hugh, and Gwyn Britten of Canyon; Mallie, Hunter, Emily, and Brent Britten of Groom; Christopher McLaughlin of Conway;  Colton, Jack, and Daisy Waxler of Happy.
