Margaret Ann McDowell Brooks, 70, passed on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Amarillo.
Celebration of life services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Accelerate Church, 2615 Paramount Blvd. A private burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Born on September 16, 1946 in Amarillo, Mrs. Brook was a local musician and singer. She played violin for the Amarillo Symphony for nine years, sang in choirs and lead worship from her piano much of her life. She was a noted singer heard on local Christian radio. She wrote several books she dreamed of having published. She was a charter member of Accelerate Church located at 2615 Paramount in Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ruby McDowell of Amarillo; and a younger sister, Elva Ruth McDowell of Topeka.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years come October, Larry Brooks of Amarillo; two children, Sarah Gabaldon and husband George of Fritch and Glen Brooks and wife Monica Moore of Covington, GA; three grandchildren, Lacy Shaw of Tulsa, OK, Landon Gabaldon of Amarillo, and Larissa Bernal of Amarillo; two great grandchildren, Liam Shaw of Tulsa, OK and Jeremiah Rice of Covington, GA; and two sisters, Glenda Devine of South Carolina and Mary Elliott of South Dakota.
