Margaret was born December 3, 1919 in Spalding NE to Mary and Emmett Lee.  She was the eldest of 9 and lived on the home farm until she was 13.  She then moved into town to live with her Lee Grandparents and attend the Catholic High School.  Margaret graduated at 17 with a Normal Training Certificate.  She taught in a one room school house (with a well and wood stove) in the sand hills of Nebraska, where she rode a horse to school, for two years.

In 1938, Margaret moved to Colorado Springs to attend Loreto Heights Girls College.  There she met Airman Raymond Heberling who she married in 1941.  They raised three children during the 30 years they spent moving around the world with the Air Force.  They settled in Amarillo in 1968, where Margaret continued teaching in both Parochial and Public schools.  She ended her 29 year teaching career at Belmar Elementary in 1988.  She and Raymond Sr. then traveled for pleasure until his death in 1991, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.

Five years later Margaret married the second love of her life, Arthur Dyson.  They were married for 13 years, enjoying travel and quiet times with family.  Margaret often said that God had sent her two wonderful husbands to love and she felt so blessed.

Margaret was dedicated to her family, doing everything she could to lend a helping hand.  She was her Great Grandchildren’s favorite babysitter!  She always put family before herself.  She was especially happy to get to meet her Great, Great Grandchildren (five generations).

Margaret was a devout Catholic and a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, in Amarilo.  She was a member of Catholic Daughters for 20+ years and active in many women’s church organizations.  She was an avid bridge player, and counted those friends among her best.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her siblings, Patricia, Ann, Johnna, Claire, William, Robert and Jim Lee; and her granddaughters Rayleen Heberling and Michelle Hunt.

Survivors include her sister Jean McMahon of Greeley CO; her sons Raymond Jr. and wife Mary and Robert Heberling; a daughter Teresa Hunt and husband Dennis, all of Amarillo; a stepson Anthony Dyson and wife Denise of Castle Rock CO; granddaughters Rose Nickell and husband Brian of Jarales NM, Becky Vigil and husband Francisco of Afton WY, Heather Heberling of Palmdale CA, Caralyn Wallace and husband Nicholas of Amarillo; grandsons Robert Heberling Jr. and wife Shantel of Snohomish WA, Sean Heberling of Honolulu HI, Dennis John Hunt and wife Tiffany of Amarillo; great grandchildren James Pauley of Belen NM, Jessey Lee Pauley and wife Margie of Seattle WA, Cassie Alumbaugh of Albuquerque NM, Wayne Floyd and wife Mickey of Mt.
