Maria Jane Velasquez, 88, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21 in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rex Nicholl as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Jane was born October 12, 1924 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, to Jose and Apolinita Sanchez. She married Manuel Velasquez in Vega, Texas following his military service.
She was a loving mother devoted to her family, especially her precious grandchildren, who loved her dearly.
Survivors include four sons, Eugene Velasquez, Jesse Velasquez, Milton Velasquez all of Amarillo and Andy Velasquez of Canyon; three sisters, Cleo Lujuan of California and Dora Dullock and Frances Barela both of Colorado; three brothers, Ernie Sanchez and Joseph Sanchez both of Colorado, and Johnny Sanchez of Alabama; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
