A memorial service will be held at a later date in Iowa City, Iowa at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Marilyn was born in Iowa City, Iowa on March 23, 1927 to William and Ruth Danner.  She attended the University of Iowa before enlisting in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict.  She was a member of the SAC Command. After her military service she returned to school and earned her Master’s in nursing from St. Louis University.
Throughout her career she worked for several VA Hospitals before moving to Amarillo in 1993.  She had been a patient of the Thomas E. Creek VA Hospital over the past few years and appreciated and was proud of the care she received there.
She was a loving and generous individual; to know her was to love her.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
We want to thank Carolyn’s lovely husband Phillip for putting his work life on hold to care for our mother during her illness but also for being our mom's best friend. She loved you very much and you her. We can never repay our gratitude for all you did for mom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dave Danner, her sister-in-law Dorothy Danner and her husband Dr. Ralph E. Irish in 1993.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Mary Irish of Parker, CO, Carolyn McCain and her husband Phillip of Amarillo, TX, Cathi Irish and fiancée Eddie Ford of Great Neck, NY; her step daughter Kelly New of Glendale, AZ; stepsons Pat Irish and his wife Rosario of Denver, CO and John Irish and his wife Dolly of San Angelo, TX; her niece Peggy Miller of LaGrange, IL; and her nephews, David Danner, Mark Danner both of Chicago and Michael Danner of Longbeach, CA
