Marina H. Frescas, 89, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on July 11, 2024.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 6 pm to 7 pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home’s Brentwood Chapel on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East.
Marina was born on June 19, 1935, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Pedro Robledo and Urbana Hernandez. She was an incredibly strong-willed and independent woman. Marina not only raised her eight children but also had a hand in raising some of her grandchildren. She was very devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with all 28 of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marina had a natural ability for gardening, or as her family called it, a green thumb. She planted seed and out bloomed the most beautiful flowers and plants. She cared deeply for her flowers and plants. Marina knew if they were sick and could revive them back to full health. She often sang and talked to her creations while tending to them.
When Marina was not tending to her family or garden, she enjoyed taking walks and listening to music. Marina loved music. She would sit for hours with her radio on just relaxing. Often times, if the music spoke to her just right, she would even get up and dance, another of her favorite hobbies and talents.
Marina is preceded in death by her parents, husband Nemesio Frescas who preceded her in 1977, sisters Guadalupe Guzman, Bertha DeLeon, and Maria Marquez; and her brother Jose Hernandez.
Those left to Cherish her memories are her daughters Cecilia Chavez, Maria De Jesus Frescas, Luz Esperanza Frescas, Maria Ortiz, Mercedes Rechendollar, and Maria Guadalupe Frescas, sons Arturo and Manuel Frescas, brother Fidencio Hernandez; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and dear friends.
