McVean, Sr. Upon their marriage on June 4th, 1960 in the Borough of Manhattan, City of New York the newlyweds soon left for the allure of the west coast. Los Angeles, California became the home of the couple’s forthcoming four boys. In 1969 the opportunity to develop the first McDonald’s restaurant in Amarillo, Texas, as offered personally by McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, was presented to the young family and the promise of building on the American dream prompted an immediate departure from California to start what would become one of the most successful McDonald’s multi-franchise operations in the state of Texas. Marion was also instrumental in the concept and development of the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo as well as a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Upon Ron’s retirement, the couple retired to Naples, Fla. On the passing of her husband in 1998, Marion relocated back to Amarillo and traveled the country spending time with her four boys and fifteen grandchildren as well as her siblings throughout the east coast.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents and husband and is survived by three sisters; Alice Lane of New York; Virginia Reilly and husband James of New Jersey; Francis Kennedy and husband James of New Jersey; and a brother James Clark and wife Rosemary of Connecticut.
