A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Schooler Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Marjorie Brown Johnson was born to Robert Angelo Brown and Polly Williams in Desdemona Texas in 1926. She was a valedictorian of Desdemona High and a graduate of Iowa State University with a Master’s Degree of Science with emphasis on dietetics. She was a wife of 27 years until the loss of her love, Lowell Johnson Jr. in 1984. Marjorie was a dietitian for Amarillo Medical Specialists for many years until her retirement in 1996. She served as dietitian and/or consultant for many universities such as Baylor, Amarillo College and Dallas Independent School District. Marjorie was one of the founding members of the Texas Restaurant Association and a 50 year member of American Dietetic Association. She was an active member of Phi Upsilon Omicron and did a publication review for Journal of Nutrition Education. Marjorie was right about everything 99.9 percent of the time according to her family and defined the meaning of a true southern belle. She was a gentile southern woman who had grace and was highly intellectual. Marjorie loved her flowers, kids and grandkids and never ceased to worry about the family’s well being. She was loved by many and will be missed by many.She is preceded in death by husband Lowell Howard Johnson Jr.; Parents Robert Angelo Brown and Polly Williams; and sister Mary Alice Ficklen. She is survived by daughter Carolyn Contreras of Amarillo; son Lowell Johnson III of Corinth, Texas; brother Robert Calvin Brown and wife Ima of Desdemona, Texas; nine grandchildren, Justin Medart, Joey Medart, Candice Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, D’Michael Contreras, David Joel Contreras, Daniel Contreras, Gretchen Buch, Giselle “Molly” Buch; 4 great-grandchildren Miranda Long, Grynlea Long, Anastasia Contreras, and Danyelle Contreras; and special friend Betty Brock.
