Marjorie Wannell Ray

October 3, 1929 — March 13, 2012

Wannell Ray, 82, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, at Bolton Street Baptist Church, 2555 S. Bolton, with Bro. Leon Green and Rev. Robert Field officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Wannell was born October 3, 1929, in Vera, TX to K.B. and Nina Ritchie.  On October 22, 1948, she married Anson D. Ray.  They resided and farmed in Vera, TX until they moved to Amarillo in 1956.

Wannell was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, G. L. Ritchie; and a daughter, Ancella Willner.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years; two daughters, Glenda Butts and husband, Tony, of Houston and Paula Hamilton and husband, Steve, of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Todd Butts, Chris and Dana Hamilton, Zach and Heather Willner, Dustin and Kelsey Hamilton, and Heather and Jarred Errington; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Guindell Ritchie; and a sister, Melba Parham.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers at Interim Hospice for the care provided to Wannell and the entire family.

Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at the funeral home.
