Mark Lauren Sayre

Clayton, New Mexico

Mark Lauren Sayre, a lifelong resident of Union County, died in Amarillo, TX, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the age of 70.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. (MST) on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, NM. Reverend Billy Rammage will officiate.

Mark Lauren Sayre was born July 30, 1954, in Dumas, TX, to Shirley George (Buster) Sayre and Vera Ledene (Perkins) Sayre.

Mark attended Clayton, NM, and graduated from Clayton High School in 1972.

Mark worked for Southwest Metal Works right out of high school. He then went to work for Rick Ford Welding for several years. In March of 1990, Mark went to work for Poole Chemical in Texline, TX, where he worked for 34 years. He retired in July 2024.

In 1986, Mark met his future wife, Sharon. They were married on October 17, 1987, and spent the next 37 wonderful years together.

Mark loved sports, especially football. His main love was golf, and he had been a member of the Clayton Golf Club for over 40 years.

Mark was preceded in death by his father on March 30, 1966, and his mother on December 9, 1997. His grandparents Lauren and Vera Sayre, Effie and Walter Perkins. His aunts and uncles, Alfred and Delene Christian, Kendyl and Barbara Monroe, John and Nan Perkins, George and Barbara Perkins, and Mary and Francis Hephner. His mother-in-law, Audrey Johns. Cousins, Dean Monroe, Bruce Cass, and Anthony Hephner.

Survivors include His Wife, Sharon, Brother, Joe Sayre of Austin, TX, Aunt, Betty Sayre of Five Points Nursing Home, Amarillo, TX, and Children – Lance Wadlington and wife Arlene, Lisa Crane, and Laurie Reeves; Grandchildren – Davisa Montoya, Davette Montoya, David Montoya, Max Duncan, Rhiannon Ramsey and husband Dillon, Brandon Wadlington and wife Vanessa, Jason Sanders, Justin Wadlington and wife Adriana, Jacob Wadlington and wife Christina, Emiley Wadlington, Antonio Ottaviani and wife Kelly, Great Grandchildren – Hanley Montoya, Embrey Van Vranken, Witten Wadlington, Brooke Wadlington, Anna Ottaviani; as well as Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Children’s or Cal Farley Boys Ranch.

Cremation was entrusted to Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo, TX.
