Martha Josephine Heymer

January 12, 1931 — April 18, 2010

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 21st at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Martha was born on January 12, 1931 in Umbarger, TX to Max and Rose Hoffman. She grew up working hard on the family farm. She raised her children as her best friends and as adults continued to have a close relationship with each of them. After raising her family, she worked for twenty five years as a cashier at Walmart in Amarillo. She enjoyed working in her yard, crocheting, sewing, word puzzles and family get togethers and especially the holidays. For two years Martha bravely fought her battle with cancer. Even in her failing health she always greeted people with an open, loving heart. She never let anyone leave her house hungry. She always had an answer for you, even though it was one you might not want to hear. She considered all her friends to be her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Heymer 1989; her parents, Max and Rose Hoffman 1990; her son, Randy Heymer 1992; her grandson, Joe Heymer 1992; her sister, Anna Adams 1989; her brother, Max Hoffman, Jr. 1989. She is survived by her sons, Larry Heymer and wife, Marjie of Amarillo, Galen Heymer and wife, Karin of Canyon and James Heymer of Amarillo; her daughter, Wanda Brooks and husband, Gary of Dumas; her sisters, Helen Klueskens of Amarillo, Betty Bourgon and husband, Bob of Foley, Alabama, Evelyn Adams and husband, Carroll of Umbarger,  Texas, Mary Adams and husband, Darrell of Umbarger, Texas, Louise Hamner and husband, Dan of Bradenton, Florida; her brother, John Hoffman and wife, Barbara of Amarillo, Texas; her eleven grandchildren; her nineteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Candy Hoffman of San Antonio and her brother-in-law, LaDean Adams of Umbarger, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo, TX  79107.
